Karel Returning To KGO

KGO announced today, via its Facebook page, that Karel will be returning to its weekend airwaves:

He’s baaaack!! Starting Saturday, March 26, Charles “Karel” Bouley will return to the KGO Newstalk 810 line-up, hosting the 7:00-10:00 p.m. time slot on both Saturday and Sunday. When Karel left KGO in 2008, he started a nationally syndicated radio program and continued performing in his stand-up comedy show here in San Francisco.

“Our listeners have been asking for Karel for nearly 3 years,” said Deidra Lieberman, General Manager of KGO Newstalk 810. “Karel is a larger than life personality. Our audience loves him and misses him and we’re very excited to welcome him back into KGO family.”

KGO has posted an ad for a separate position of dump button operator for his show...with no breaks of any kind over the 3 hours!

I saw his picture on All Access. Kind of looks like Jay Leno with his chin. LOL!

In a radio talent marketplace where so many quality people are on the beach or have given up and moved on, it's astonishing that KGO would slide backwards and re-hire as problematic a personality (in both senses of the term) as Karel. The guys at KGO/Citadel have lost their way big time, and need to reexamine where they went off the rails.

It was dumb that Karel went off on Joe the Plumber on his first stint at KGO-AM and it costed him a seat to replace Bernie Ward. I hope he does better in his second stint.
