Karen Keeley on The Wolf

Heard her during her regular weekend shift as well as subbing in the afternoon slot yesterday. Question - and this is with all due respect to Miss Keeley: Does a British person actually have any business at all to jock a country format? Doesn't it sound a little bit out of place? First time I heard her, I immediately thought, "When did The English Muffin (late of WLIR/Long Island) move to Nashville and start playing country records?"

Are you being serious or are you just hoping we'll open this and click on the links to your stuff? If you're being serious, I've heard Karen many times and she appears to be quite talented and has a lot of knowledge about country music. I like hearing her on country radio. If you're not being serious, try posting "Does a woman actually have any business at all to be on sports radio?" That should get you a lot more hits to your myspace than this post will. ;D

Actually... that thread already exists... :D

Again, I was not disrespecting the lady's talent (let alone getting cheap hits to my Myspace as one would suspect)... And in fact, I respect women breaking new barriers in broadcasting. Sure, many may not agree with Suzyn Waldman's color commentary on Yankee games, but it was only a matter of time. My point is Karen would probably sound more "in sync" on an AC station or the like, and when someone hears an accent on a country music station that is not of Southern dialect, it is rather odd. But, as I cited in the Waldman example, if you're qualified to do the job, there shouldn't be any holding back. To be fair, even though it might not shine through in my original post, Karen actually did a decent job.

yeah...it's not like country is popular in the UK...
oh...wait...
