KASA: That's a big fat NO!

"Que fue" is, literally, "what's up". And "Fue" is the first syllable of "Fuego" or "Fire". Since the station targets Hispanics, the easily jumped to conclusions for English-only speakers is irrelevant... even in the Media Hut.
But only if the English speaker knows the station's target demo. Personally, I had no idea it was a Spanish language station.

And, of course, absolutely no intent to make fun of anyone.

The argument is intriguing and is about conflicting license conditions. Why did it change from four-year to permanent? They are arguing that, under the earlier four-year rule (and not the later license to cover under different AM window rules with a permanent connection to KASA), K294CW should be allowed to change originating stations. They may have a case; I am not quite sure why we wound up with the discrepancy.
cue Billy Preston: Yes indeedy, it will go around in circles.

While 15~Forty has very little value without a paired translator, K294CW retains value - even at reduced power. The new owner of KXEG (transfer application pending) will broker time to La Indiscreta, which will then air on 12~Eighty AND continue on 106~Seven.

Wondering where KASA (Radio Hogar) got the translator, and is supporting the move to KXEG? None other than Vic Michaels. So now Radio Hogar, whose KASA was shut down, will apparently be leasing their K294CW translator to the new owner of KXEG.

Nurse Jeff and my fezes are spinning!

I hear Uncle Vic's theme song...

But wait!

Link to Petition For Reconsideration

KASA Radio Hogar (“KRH”), by counsel, hereby requests reconsideration of the May 8,
2024 action of the Media Bureau’s Audio Division canceling the licenses for AM broadcast
station KASA and FM translator station K294CW, at Phoenix, Arizona (“Cancellation Letter”)
and dismissing as moot KRH’s most recent request to extend its Special Temporary Authority to
operate from a temporary antenna site.1 For the reasons set forth below, the cancellation of the
licenses should be rescinded and the STA extension request restored to pending status and
granted.

Attorneys have to eat, too... 👨‍⚖️

It's a 14 page appeal to the FCC - almost as long as the Old Gringo's resume. Basically the suits claim: 1) to promote equity and fairness, minority owned 15~Forty should be allowed to soldier on as a meaningless Ancient Modulation station; and 2) the valuable translator satisfied the four year requirement that linked it to KASA and should now be allowed to pair with another station (KXEG, pronounced ka-ching).

Some serious $$ have been invested by Radio Hogar to save their bacon. It's a litigation pig-pen that'll take some time
to resolve. 🐷

Jeeze. Someone actually read it. (David Gleason's illustrated biography covering 64 years in radio )

In Puerto Rico we always thought that the FCC turned a blind eye to violations because they were afraid of been seen as "opressive gringos" ("Old" or young)

If they found a home for the translator, why does anyone want to save a daytimer at the top of the dial. When you trade the Gremlin for a Tesla, you won't be able to listen to it anyway!

I sure hope there was a kids' show host on 1950s TV who called himself "The Old Gringo". If not, there was a missed opportunity!

The suits sure spent a lot of time arguing why 15~Forty should return from the ashes of Ancient Modulationism. Maybe they're backspinning its originating station status to get K294CW back on the air? The Nurse and I think the dual revocations go more toward the fitness of the licensee than all the mumbo jumbo arguments being put forth.

Trade the Gremlin for a Tesla? That's like paying extra for a Whole Foods bag, when a worn Ladmo bag will do.

It's a no brainer... the smart Media Hut student<...>
Wait, wait...

Now, I'm not here to disparage any]/i] high-level education from the administration and staff at the Media Hut, but...

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Hey, look - it's the Media Hut 'Media Masters (degree)' holders.

Apparently the address for "KASA Radio Hogar, Inc" on fccinfo.com is the same address as a big charter school and i don't see anything that indicates theres a station there

fccinfo.com also notes "KASA Radio Hogar, Inc" is non profit.. but my reccolection recalls its not against the law for a non profit to own a commercial outlet

The charter school was built on the transmitter site land. That's how this whole mess started.

And yes, KASA Radio Hogar is listed as non-profit at the Corporation Commission.
