KASA: That's a big fat NO!

i thought the new owners already took over?

WEre talking like it matters whats on 1280/96.1/KRPH and it really doesnt.. what theyre doing now has no bearing on anything in the future
Yes, that sale has already gone through. That was when the new owners dropped the syndicated Oldies for their own in house 50's to 80's version and renamed it "Awesome FM". So I think thus is KIKO's permanent format.

"Awesome FM" pre-dated the sale to Orozco, which as mentioned above, hasn't been approved by the FCC yet. Low put the unfocused oldies format on KIKO-FM in 2022, and even tried to simulcast it on KRPH before its previous owners donated it to the MMTC, which sold the license to Jeff Chang for $7,500. The "Awesome" format, given all the technical difficulties it has had since the switch from the satellite oldies format, pretty much serves/served as a placeholder format for KIKO-FM until Low could find a buyer.

Don't you just love lawyers? Especially when they claim it would be "..a loss of a legacy" if KASA goes poof. Shirley they jest!

Between this and whatever's going on at KXEG and KIKO/KBSZ, we have our own "Isle of Misfit AM Stations" going on.

If the interest is about the Hispanic community, you can negotiate with the KNUV 1190 and take the opportunity to rescue that FM translator

If you look at the AM dial above 1060, you can find a number of what I would call "dysfunctional" stations, with only an exception or two, like our Lumberyard friends, and maybe KSUN 1400, which is one of the few independently-owned AM stations in the market actually making an effort to hang in there.

1060? I was thinking 620.

True. I was kind of ignoring the agenda-driven Salem Media stations. But the stations gradually get more dysfunctional as you move up the AM dial. 1480 and above are pretty much lost causes.

Yes Indeedy. Many a lost legacy on the Ancient Modulation band. 5~Fifty KOY. 9~Ten KJJJ. 9~Sixty KOOL. 12~Thirty KRIZ. 13~Ten KZZP. 13~Sixty KRUX. 15~Ten KDKB. 15~Eighty KTUF. OK, OK...fill in the blanks if you wish.

Can we consider 1440 KAZG a current legacy? Gold mining for 23 years now!

Absolutely. A day without Lumberyard 14~Forty is like an hour without a posting somewhere on this board by the Old Gringo.
Oh, no! Several times a week at least I sleep for more than an hour at a time!

The latest ...

KRH: We want to put K294CW back on the air with 1 watt, while we try to secure a new antenna site that's on government property.

ENTRAVISION: Not so fast....KRH cannot be trusted to stay within the 1 watt parameter, based on previous bad behavior.

One watt? Shirley, they jest...unless the HAAT is 3,000 ft.

Should read: KRH cannot be trusted.
