@DavidEduardo: noooooo, that's not what I meant. And I wasn't presenting my argument laced with attitude. KDKA, if they do lag behind an FM in their local market share, it's pretty self-explanatory. If an AM is not simulcast on FM to get some FM audience, they are going to lag in the younger demos who have never listened to an AM station anyway. (Yes, KDKA is simulcast, but it's on WDSY's HD channel.) However, your argument is suffering from lack of legs. According to Radio-Info's own ratings chart, in September, 2010, KDKA had a 7.4 while WPGB had a 6.8. October, KDKA pulled a 7 and WPGB pulled a 6.6. November, KDKA and WPGB were tied with 7.3 apiece. I doubt the news music on KDKA versus that of WPGB had much to do with ratings. It's more of a psychological thing for the listener, in my own opinion. Besides, KDKA is operated out of Pittsburgh and the last I heard, back in the day, "FM News Talk 104-7"'s news was tracked by the fine folks at WTAM NewsRadio 1100/Cleveland.
Oh. Wait. This is an Austin/SA board. Sorry folks. As you were...
