Kathi Goertzen going to have surgery again!

Kathi Goertzen announced Sept. 16 that she is having surgery next week to remove, as much as possible, a brain tumor that has been slowly growing.

Thankfully, the tumor is benign.

Kathi underwent a similar surgery 7 years ago, which was a complete success.

We will update her progress throughout the process. Kathi appreciates your prayers and support and looks forward to being back on the air soon.

God Speed Kathi again!

Kathi Goertson is one of the nicest, most personable on air people you could ever want to meet.

She's not pretentious like so many of them are.
You'd almost think, sometimes, that some of the on air newsies in Seattle seem to BELIEVE they are on ABC instead of a local affiliate. At least "some" of them certainly act that way when off camera. Kathi is not like that at all.

This news is not good. Kathi has a good spirit to her, and a hard worker at Fisher. I met Kathi back in 1982 at an Alpha Epsilon Rho (the broadcasting Fraternity) dinner in Moscow, Idaho while at WSU. We knew back then she was a rising star even in college, as she anchored KWSU-TV during the Mt. St. Helens eruption. A class act, and cute, too!
