Kathleen Parker To Exit CNN

It was obvious somethat had to give on that show, what with the low ratings and infighting. Too often Parker just seemed to be the "we'll be right back" part of the show. The low ratings probably are not going to turnaround with just a new co-host. I would predict major retooling.

Update: She was on tonight, though I didn't see the whole show. Any mention of this, R-I'ers?

That whole show is really just quite awkward with a forced feeling all around and I don't know if replacing one of the co-hosts is really going to solve the problem.

Well she has been on all this week. Is this CNN just delaying the inevitable, or was the Post story premature, or worse, just wrong?

It's not as if CNN might have been focusing its attention elsewhere this week in light of current events. ;)

Point taken, however the Post story was published on January 10th, two days after the horrific AZ shootings.

"Any day now" coming from a secret source didn't mean it had to be within that very week.

Hmm. Parker/Spitzer is still alive as of February 23rd, 2011. Not to say changes are still not to come, but, really, reports of the demise of this show have proven to be premature. The departure of Olbermann may have something to do with all this, or CNN is simply giving the show some more time. I have noticed more live shows than previously. Perhaps the report of the death of this show have been, again, premature. If so, surprising to me, but to CNN's credit, letting a show grow and find an audience might have been a smart move afterall.

Does anyone else believe, like I do, that CNN leaked this story of Kathleen Parker's departure just to draw attention to the show?

You mean, kinda like how they booked Larry King as a guest on the show that replaced Larry King?

There's nothing wrong with that. Yes, it looks like a ratings stunt and probably is, but Larry King is making appearances all over the place on TV now, not really ready to 'retire' in the sense that he's sick of the spotlight. And given the remarks he made about CNN "overselling" Morgan's show, having him on to talk about it on CNN is a smart move. It makes it look like they're all friends, being open with the audience, and nobody is offended by his remarks.

I think King was right about CNN over-selling expectations for Morgan's show, and for all we know, CNN realizes Larry is right, too.

As for what Piers and Larry actually talked about, I don't have any idea, because I didn't watch.

Eliot Spitzer seems to be doing a great job BY HIMSELF IMO. Why bother giving him a co-host?

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D

Larry King was doing some spokesperson work for the New York Mets on ESPN last weekend. During one of their documentary shows that airs early mornings. Found that one very odd.

Nope, she's gone...it's official.

She's spending more time with her (newspaper) family.

Kathleen Parker, the Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist who co-hosted CNN's 8 p.m. show, is leaving just five months after the show debuted, the company announced Friday.
"I have decided to return to a schedule that will allow me to focus more on my syndicated newspaper column and other writings," Parker said in a statement.

Eliot Spitzer stays, with some friends:

Ken Jautz, CNN executive vice president, said a new program, called "In the Arena," will begin Monday. Spitzer will remain on that show, which will adopt "an ensemble format with several newsmakers, guests and contributors joining Eliot Spitzer each night."
"E.D. Hill and Will Cain join the program as well as others within and outside the CNN family," Jautz said.
