These are top quality...Check Broadcast Supply West (BSW)
they normally have a good price. These units are first class and NOT cheap! JBI
 
I am sure you have calculated your systems gain and loss over the path, but if you dont need the full size Paraflector they also sell a mini-paraflector. I have a short hop from the studio to our tower but a longer path to our sister station we simulcast. The mini works fine out to our tower and the big boys handle the long hop. Saved some $$.. BSW are my guys but it always pays to shop around.
 
Does the "mini" meet the minimum spec for transmit beamwidth even in vertical pol?
Don't think the larger paraflector does either in horizontal pol.
 
Another good choice is the Marti SC48. About a grand, but has good narrow beam width.

We bought a station, and moved studios, bought one of these for the transmit end (original transmit antenna was a Scala on a tower with five others used at the cluster the station came from--so we had to abandon it).

Soon found interference problems from the new site, I spent several days with a scanner tracking the problem down. Was surprised how narrow the Marti was, especially compared to the PR-450's used by other stations.
 
The FCC most likely will not accept a beamwidth of greater than 24 degrees.
If you tried someone like Comsearch would correct you.
 
True if you can go with vertical pol.
But, it's got a 30 degrees beam width horizontal. That's a lot of wasted RF being scattered by buildings and off the ground.
Around here non-polarized backscatter has caused several "approved" co-channel and +-250 KHz paths to be re-engineered or abandoned that were even 180 degrees off the path to the existing STL.
 
Good point.I read where an STL license was issued using this antenna with the feedhorn mounted vertically.Can't recall right now.I do like the old Marti..These STL paths can get real interesting..
