Kathy Clements strikes again

Channel 8 is not showing the first half hour of the Giants-Saints game, instead showing a Dale Hanson special. Clements cites the necessity of pregame coverage previewing the Ring of Honor inductions.

While I am a Hanson fan, I would prefer that Channel 8 would show the ABC broadcast in its entirety, not join it in progress at 7:00.

Oh, a thought just occured to me. Would Clements have acted otherwise if ABC chose to show the inductions live? Is this her way to take revenge, at least in her own mind, against ABC?
______________

ABC or ESPN? Dale could have ,should have sat this one out.

It came on Channel 8, 30 minutes after the ABC telecast began.

This one I would pin on Dale, seeing he pretty much runs anything sport-related on the station. He has to get as much face time as he can, something about being a narccist or something of that nature ;)

In all honesty, I would've rather seen the whole first quarter of the saints/giants PLUS the induction ceremony, not the "feel sorry for the katrina victims" telethon. For the one time jerry had right to stand up to ABC and the NFL, he didnt. Dont get me wrong, those people suffered alot, but its time to move and get on with life.

And that face fills even a big screen nicely :).

You cold hearted bastard.

Just for that, you have to spend a day as a gofer for Dale Hansen :)

Channel 8 was fairly kind if you ask me..

Channel 8 has a long standing programming history of putting an hour long Dale Hansen Cowboys pre-game show at 7pm before any Cowboys monday night game. This was no different. I'm sure channel 8 had sold the program to advertisers long before the season began.

When the NFL and ABC decided to move the Saints game to Monday night, channel 8 would have been well within their rights to pre-empt the entire thing to keep their own programming intact. (I believe that's exactly what the DC affiliate did.)

Instead, 8 opted to do an hour of news at 5, run Entertainment Tonight at 6, and put Dale at 6:30 so that we could see at least an hour of the Saints game - and see the telethon.

I think channel 8's solution was about as good as they could do under these very unusual circumstances.

Under these circumstances "Dale's Show", and Entertainment Tonight" were not that crucial to air. Ch.8 could have been wiser and gone along with the network.

The Monday Night Cowboys Games are the only way WFAA can tie in with the Cowboys. FOX & CBS have all the other regular season broadcast rights and KTVT has the pre-season rights. After this year, Channel 8 will have no Cowboys games at all, so this may have been their last chance to have Dale act like "Mr. Cowboy". I think he's closer to Bozo the clown if you ask me, but nobody did.
Edited by Ranger on 09/20/05 10:43 PM.

That is being disrespectful to Bozo :).

He's not closer to Bozo.

He IS Bozo.

Only HE doesn't know it. :)

No need for a happy face on that one.

Hell, I just turned on the tube, and his fat face is on again.

One day, I made the mistake of telling my barber he looked like Dale.

The only difference is Dale has an opinion on ... everything.
