Katie Couric to announce Tomorrow, 4/5/06

If you've read or seen the various surveys that have been taken during the past few nights---both nationally and locally----I think a lot of viewers share the same opinions as you do? Then again...maybe most of the negatives have come from people who aren't employees of the CBS Television Network or one of their affiliates?

As for hard news, Katie has actually done more than many of the so-called "hard news" anchors. The Today Show was actually live on the air while 9/11 unfolded. Was Tom Brokaw LIVE when 9/11 happened? NO! She has interviewed many of the newsmakers every single day. Tom usually relied on REPORTERS to interview the newsmakers. If anything, Katie has been closer to many of the newsmakers of the day.
Obviously, this does break a paradigm for the Evening News. I defend Katie's right to be in the chair. That being said, I have no idea if anyone will watch. I won't be watching because I don't get home until 7pm (and the national newscasts air at 5:30pm here in Phoenix).
