Okay, I'm listening to WWL this morning for info about the major hurricane that may strike New Orleans and environs.
And what do you think I hear at 6AM?
CBS news, followed by a one minute hurricane update by The Weather Channel. Then, Outdoors with Don Dubuc discussing some fishing rodeo in Grand Isle!
What the...??
Lets rename this station, The Big 870...WTF.

WHOA! I was just about to crack you because the storm isn't coming here, but then I decided to educate myself and BAM! here it is. It's still over 48 hours out though. WWL still has time to get it right. Will they? That would mean dropping some brokered shows, so maybe it is doubtful.<P ID="signature">______________

I turned the radio back on at 9AM, and WWL now has wall-to-wall coverage of the impending hurricane.
Thankfully, they're doing what they should be doing at this time.

IMHO listening to WDSU on 87.7 was far more useful than WWL. WDSU provided traffic info, weather updates, and useful information. WWL was airing listeners' opinions of the hurricanes...

Re: katrina and the waves 1300 wibr

thanks go out to 1300 wibr and ed buggs for picking up the coverage tonight. the ONLY station in baton rouge to have hurricane updates. 1150 wjbo is a useless radio station on the weekends. syndicated shows all day. what a waste of a signal!

edit: as of 2am eagle 98.1 is now live with updates with gordy rush...they put me on the air slamming wjbo :)...

Smash, Just dont try to listen to your buddies on Klove 92.7, I doubt they will keep you inform :) -- youd think the owners would watch in a TV station (same with other statons that cant do their own live coverage, at least rebroadcast on e of the tv stations doing coverage) My thoughts and prayers are with everyone down there, I hope that everyone is able to get safely to dry land and that New Orleans makes it thru this and the rest of lousianna.

Hey smashed,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you..from Florida. My sister,
who lives in Miami, says they are OK but the neighborhood looks
"like a war zone, over half the trees are down."

Take care and get your family out safely!

The stations that are listed for hurrican evacuations on roadsigns in the area read:
WWL 870/WLMG 101.9 in New Orleans
WJBO 1150/WFMF 102.5 in Baton Rouge

They are the EAS stations if I remember for the area...
