KATY PERRY LAST FRIDAY NIGHT (TGIF)

I'm starting to hear this song all over. What are the chances Katy Perry scores her fifth #1 hit off the "Teenage Dream" album with this song?

Who was the last female artist to achieve this feat?

Love the song and the music video is VERY well done. Gawd, she's hot....

;D

Agreed- especially about her being hot- if only her vocals could match her other assets. Still, she is undeniably a superstar at the moment, which should help propel this song to #1. Its a perfect hit for summer too.

Her vocals are actually pretty decent. I think the production covers it up too much. She does have a hard time, singing and dancing and remaining on pitch.

I like it much better than E.T. and Firework, but I still like Teenage Dream better.

Lady Gaga had 6 consecutive #1's CHR/Pop, but only 4 of those were from The Fame.

Mariah Carey had 10 consecutive #1's at CHR, but again I think only 4 of those were the most from one album.

Even Madonna didn't seem to do what Katy Perry might do with "Last Friday Night (TGIF)". It could be that it has NEVER been done by a female and the last time 5 #1's in a row was from Michael Jackson's Bad.

Yeah, Firework didn't do much for me....E.T. and CA Gurls were alright - but Teenage Dream is by far my favorite by Katy. Hot N Cold is second.

I liked Waking Up In Vegas, but it kinda disappeared. Teenage Dream has been a massive album. I could see TGIF being #1 - pretty good song.

I'd almost guarantee it...

And I'm having trouble thinking of any artist, male or female, that's produced five #1s in a row off one album

I believe Kelly Clarkson was the last female to have 5 top 10 hits from a single album, but I believe we would have to go back to Michael Jackson's Bad for a single album with 5 #1s, male or female.

Michael Jackson's Bad was likely the last album to produce 5 Pop # 1s in a row, but his sister Janet's Rhythm Nation was the last album to produce 5 Pop #1s.

Rhythm Nation's Singles

Miss You Much #1 10/06/89
Rhythm Nation #2 12/22/89
Escapade #1 2/23/90
Alright #2 5/18/90
Come Back to Me #1 8/17/90
Black Cat #1 10/19/90
Love Will Never Do (Without You) #1 1/11/91
State of the World #4 3/22/91

If we go with the assumption that Last Friday Night hits #1, it will be her 5th straight pop #1 from the same album. Not a bad accomplishment from a single album, considering that the album has been all but decreed dead. This is far greater accomplishment in 2011 than in 1987 or the late 80s/early 90s.

Til that rolling in the crap song get's bump off

I find it refreshing that someone has scored a #1 hit...not cause of a gimmick, how she looks, or who she knows...but sheer talent.

100% Agree.

If we could only have more of this these days.

Really? No gimmicks? She is close to a Lady Gag-me look-a-like and she sings like Whitney Houston - all volume.

Talent? Maybe by today's standards....such as they are. ::)

I'll bet the people who saw her climb up from singing in church are really pleased at her *ahem* "professional" stature too.

I got the impression that dkampy was making a reference to Adele, not Katy Perry.
