Katy Perry, "Roar"

That's not saying much. It'll be a hit, and I'll reluctantly spin it in very high numbers.

Is Cumulus playing this as well as Gaga's song yet?
They're playing "Roar". A couple stations spun "Applause" once this morning, but I'm not sure if that was just a one time thing. Cumulus stations are playing the new Cody Simpson song though, even though it's not in the top 40 yet.

I still think "Teenage Dream" was her strongest single, but this is definitely one of her better efforts and it shouldn't take long to reach #1.

I completely agree with your assessment of "Teenage Dream." The song has a certain maturity to it and is very easy on the ears.

Are you sure that's a compliment lol?

This single is ridiculously dumb, but it's not hurting anybody, so whatever makes people happy...The only Katy Perry singles that have any kind of maturity to them IMO are Firework and Wide Awake

Why the negativity? So sad you never have anything good to say about anything.

Yes, the single "Teenage Dream" is very easy on the ears. Try listening without the negativity and you may hear a beautiful melody and artful lyrics. And that is a good thing.

Lol that "beautiful melody" is the same note repeated over and over through the entire chorus - and the "artful lyrics" are "You think I'm pretty without any makeup on..." - and it's "easy on the ears", meaning it's not too loud to bother your ears

And here's a new song that steals its hook from the title of another song, and has her roaring like a tiger

Okay, man...

I go back and forth on whether Teenage Dream or California Gurls is my least favorite KP song....
That being said, I think this song just might dethrone Robin Thicke on the Hot 100 this week and will almost definitely hit #1 on CHR as well in a few weeks.

LOL.... actually the "easy on the ears" part means it is easy on the ears. Fun to listen to. Enjoyable. She wistfully looks back to her carefree, easy days with a first love. And with that comes a certain amount of growth, maturity.

If you want heavy, go listen to Joan Baez or Bob Dylan. That will bring you down in an instant.

Same with "Roar" - for some people it is just an enjoyable song. I don't necessarily care for it but I don't need to question their taste to feel better about myself or my own judgement in music!

Okay, man!

I really like this one. As for her other songs, about the only one I haven't really liked is Firework. Wide Awake, while not a bad song, got wayyyy overplayed.

Well some people must love the single, because she's #1 for the second week on Billboard's HOT 100 chart. It's also her 8th #1 single to date. I still remember the critics who said she'd be a one hit wonder after the run with "I Kissed A Girl" finished.

My boss ruined this song for me. Every time I'm in the studio around him and Roar comes on.... he goes on singing "And you're gonna hear me WHHHHOORRREEEEE". Ah, the life of radio.
