Katz Networks Relaunching Court TV

Perhaps I am mistaken, but wasn't one of the reasons for the demise of the original Court TV the fact that the rollicking camera-mugging trainwreck that was the O.J. Simpson Trial caused many more judges to start banning cameras in their courtrooms?

But Didn't HLN take the old CourtTV's content when its owner (Time Warner in 2008 Now known as Warner Media) wanted to convert CourtTV into TruTV.

I know during the time the Casey Anthony Trial was going on CourtTV's Crime Content was moving to HLN at the time and the former CourtTV Pundits were going to HLN though.

Also in this Post wouldn't Nexstar Owned stations also get affiliations deals with "New CourtTV" if the Tribune/Nexstar deal is approved.

No, actually it was the OJ Simson Trial a-way back in 1994-95 that was the genesis of Court TV. It was kinda like the TV Show "Cops"; the big cities really didn't want cameras in the court room (although there may have been exceptions), but the suburbs and small towns were all too happy for the exposure. But the novelty eventually wore off and the lack of real life drama made for low ratings, and advertisers reluctant to renew, and the original Court TV became the current TRU TV. And now, Katz feels the time has come to give day-to-day criminal trial coverage another go, this time working with local news outlets who are covering these stories anyway. We'll see how it works out.

Well we just had an interesting trial here.
The Sheriff of a neighboring county was on trial for misappropriating county resources to his re-election campaign.

The jury returned a verdict of guilty.
But then the judge polled the jurors, and one of them said he did NOT agree with the verdict.

The judge sent them back for further deliberations, upon which defense counsel started screaming that this outcome demands a mistrial.

Thirty minutes later the judge declared one.
That would all have made for some interesting TV.

What will Court TV show when trials are not on? Didn't the old court TV show crime related shows like COPS and Forensic Files in prime time?
