KAZG gets mdday talk show

PHOENIX (January 31, 2007) – Arizona Community Media Foundation (AzCMF) announced today that it has reached an agreement with Sandusky Radio to broadcast Pacifica Radio’s Democracy Now! news program on KAZG 1440AM weekdays 12noon to 1pm, beginning Monday, February 5, 2007.

Phoenix is currently the largest city in the United States not served by an FCC licensed college music or community radio station. With the entry of Democracy Now! on KAZG, AzCMF begins working towards a long-term goal of developing a block of community-based programming spotlighting local groups (artists, musicians, immigrants, labor, etc.) that are often underserved by existing commercial and public radio stations in the Valley. In addition, AzCMF also desires to bring more national and international programs like Democracy Now! to Phoenix listeners.

“Democracy Now! is a great program that provides a voice for persons of color, organized labor, immigrants, and many other groups often left out of media dialogues. We are thrilled to bring this national news service to Phoenix listeners,” said Rhonda Boyle, president of AzCMF.

Local businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring the local broadcast of Democracy Now! or volunteering with AzCMF may contact[EDIT].

About Democracy Now!

Pioneering the largest public media collaboration in the U.S., Democracy Now! is broadcast on Pacifica , NPR, community, and college radio stations; on public access, PBS, and satellite television (DISH Network and DIRECTV); as a "podcast," and on the Internet. Oooooh boy! Sounds like Airhead America on steroids. ;D

I'm sure Kyrsten Sinema and that bunch will be regular contributors.

Will they have a SAP channel in espanol so the illegals can comprendo?
Wait, this is AM radio...never mind.

The Arizona Socialist Republic might even assign someone as regular
radio writer again, just for all the favorable stories they'll do.

Too bad Lumberyard 1440 already brokered out most of PM drive,
the perps from this outfit would no doubt want to go head to head with
the eeeevil Joe Crummey on 55/FYI.

Closed circuit to zumahansnews94: my asbestos suit has been donned
and you may now flame away! ;)

This'll defintely increase the 1440 audience - from 4 to maybe 7 or 8 listeners. Of course, those 7 or 8 listeners will be using radios with analog dials and they'll think they're listening to 1480, when in reality their radio dial pointer is just a bit off. ;D

Pacifica Radio?

Wow man, peace and love and armed Marxist revolution and more dope man.....

Hey, it'll bring in a few more listeners. And at least they're finally selling something on 1440! Alas, it seems their goal is to become to new 1190, with ever more night pow-pow-power than the once-illustrious Talk of Tolleson.

Words of ignorance and text book case of genetic fallacy argument.

I'm guessing you've never listened to the program (they podcast at www.democracynow.org, are available on Dish, DirecTV, satellite radio) as if you did, even if you disagree with their political philosophical tilt, you would recognize that they are one of the few true journalism entities with integrity, that doesn't "suck up" to the TPTB…

TPTB? As in the powers that be? Has Bill O'Reilly given up on the SPs and made the TPTBs his new enemy?

This blows big time! How are Nurse Jeff and I going to hear more warn out oldies than KOOL plays anymore? The colon blow show in the morning...Err America II mid-day, the East Valley Network in afternoons, and ASU Sun Devilette basketball! Perhaps they'll use the night signal to pick up ASU water polo games, or pbp for the vaunted Sting lacrosse team.
