KAZH Houston

Know idea what they program but why does KAZH need three stations?

Seems 57 (Baytown) is the full-power one, along with 28 and 53 which seem to be low-power.

I can understand maybe one alternate if a station doesn't cover the intended audience, but 57 seems to cover Houston very well.

Just curious.

28 (KHMV-CA) and 53 (KVVV-LP) were used as inner-city fillers when 57's transmitter was down near Alvin, and thus was signal challenged compared to the Missouri City sticks. KAZH has transmitted from MC since 2003, and yes, you would think the LP's would no longer be needed.

28 seems to come and go, but has been on continuously for a number of months now. I haven't seen 53 at my Cy-Fair location in several years. According to the FCC database it may now be operating from the Texas City area. They also appear to have a CP for moving to Channel 15 (putting it in the new "core" channels.)

Does anyone know how DirectTV and Dish are handling Channel 57 now? I saw a billboard for Channel 34 KUVM Azteca that stated that it was on Channel 57 on one of the sattelite providers, and the Directv web site lists the local channels for Houston as including KUVM Channel 57 -- even though KUVM is Channel 34.
Are the sateliite companies carrying Azteca American from Channel 34, or from a national feed, and do they pretend that Azteca America is still on Channel 57?

Would Channel 57 lose its place on satellite coverage by dropping the Azteca America Affilitation? I would think that the satellite companies would still have to carry Channel 57.

The Azteca billboards went up in Houston about a week ago, promoting Mexican football (soccer) coverage. The channel info is hard to read from the highway (especially if you are zipping by) but it does include KUVM 34 (the OTA outlet) plus KUVM's position on Comcast, Channel 74. DirecTV Channel 57 is also listed.

Actually, Univision in Houston is channel 45, KXLN; 34's Azteca.

Easy mistake to make, though. You see KUVM and think Univision. Actually it stands for Una Vez Mas, owner of KUVM and now the largest owner of Azteca America affiliates.

Actually tu Vision is on channel 57 and 53, Its also on 53 on comcast, but its not on Satellite. TV Azteca is on Channel 34 on local tv and on Comcast channel 74, and on satellite its on 57.

Correction: TuVision IS on Dish network satellite Ch. 57.

Well I have Direct Tv and they dont have Tu Vision on 57. They have Azteca America

KAZH Channel 57 TuVision is NOT on DirecTv.. DirecTv is running Azteca America (I presume Channel 34 KUVM) with channel position 57 --- so many people would not even realize that the real Channel 57 had been dropped by DirecTV. Is DirecTv allowed to drop one of the full power broadcast stations from their local channel line up like that just because the station changes its affiliation? I wouldn't think so.

I don't have DirecTV but I would guess that they are running the generic Azteca America network feed on 57 instead of KUVM.

I didn't watch enough of Channel 57 on DirecTV to tell if it was the generic Azteca America feed or KUVM Channel 34. I also don't know if Channel 34 is even broadcasting anything local different from the national feed.

However, the listings on DirecTv.com for the local channels for Houston identify "Channel 57" as KUVM in the local lineup. So DirecTv is representing that they are carrying KUVM.
