begun dumping sports that conflict with Sabres games on GR back onto KB.
Several UB football games aired on KB, as did several late-season Yankee
games. This winter will see the lion's share of UB men's basketball
games aired on KB, a year after the station said it was dumping UB basketball to give the oldies a better chance to catch on without sports pre-emptions.
Now, UB basketball (and the $$$$ it generates!) is back on KB.
Should this be construed as a "no-confidence" vote by Entercom on
KB's future as a music station?

It appears Entercom has decided to put revenue ahead of ratings on KB.
I applaud them for bringing KB back with Danny, et al, but the obvious
passion the staff had for the project wasn't shared by the suits. With
Danny and Tom, Sandy, Steve and Jack it's a pretty entertaining music/
personality station. Armstrong is totally amazing! But who's gonna hang
thru UB games? Please tell me the Bisons won't be grazing on 1520 in '06!
Nothing like minor league bb at 10 :30 in the morning.

It appears Entercom has decided to put revenue ahead of ratings on KB.
I applaud them for bringing KB back with Danny, et al, but the obvious
passion the staff had for the project wasn't shared by the suits. With
Danny and Tom, Sandy, Steve and Jack it's a pretty entertaining music/
personality station. Armstrong is totally amazing! But who's gonna hang
thru UB games? Please tell me the Bisons won't be grazing on 1520 in '06!

It’s anybody’s guess as to what the Entercom decision makers will do with WWKB. Perhaps they’ll do nothing at all and allow KB to hobble along as the 1.6 share 12+ Persons station it is.
Entercom, with its recent decision to carry University at Buffalo Bulls basketball, appears to believe WWKB can generate more revenue broadcasting paid sports programming and other non-music programming that adds to the Buffalo cluster’s bottom line. One wonders if Entercom regrets letting the Bisons and the revenue generated by the minor league team slip away to Infinity’s WECK.
Entercom’s decision to carry UB sports on WWKB should not be minimized. It says a lot about the company’s faith in the Real Oldies format, no disrespect to the station’s personalities. I suspect Entercom will gladly consider any reasonable revenue generating programming from here on out, regardless of how it might compromise the Oldies format. Perhaps they’ll protect the daytime line-up from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., although if the revenue potential is high enough, they’ll not think twice about interrupting the daytime continuity.
WWKB could become the “catch-all” station for financial and sports programming that cannot be carried on its other AM properties, WBEN, WGR and WWWS. The more programming that’s bumped to WWKB, the less Real Oldies will be heard. It’s conceivable there may come a time when the Real Oldies programming is the “filler” between the revenue generating “bumped” programming.
Dan Neaverth’s morning show is the only real live attraction on the radio station. Yes, Sandy Beach and Jack Armstrong are legendary in their own rights, but their dayparts attract substantially fewer listeners than morning drive; and comparitively speaking, WWKB in morning drive has fewer listeners than WECK.
Another fact to be considered: There may be less incentive for Neaverth to stay now, that his son who was a successful Entercom account executive, has left the company. Even less incentive for Entercom to keep him.
I’d suggest that without Neaverth, there is no reason for “Real Oldies” on WWKB.
