KBAW-FM

From what's not showing up on the FCC site, it looks like they haven't moved yet.

Last I heard was that Tellez was having issues getting on the Crown Castle owned tower where the CP is. Crown has a pretty strict routine for leasing space off their towers that require extensive credit checks, engineering/structural analysis, construction drawings, insurance requirements, etc. From what was told to me he was trying to have his own tower built near the CP site so he could bypass having to deal with Crown Castle and get the station on the air. Word has it he isn't in the best financial state so who knows how long that will be.

If the owner is not in a good financial state, it is probably safe to say that the equipment needed (antenna, transmitter, etc) will not help it be competitive in Laredo.

That is not the same station. KBAW is now KLIT (yeah those have to be the worst call letters for a Christian station ever lol)

Does anyone know if KBAW made the switch from 93-5 in Zapata to 93-3 in Laredo?

I have no idea what is going on with 93.3 in Laredo (Ranchitos Las Lomas). Maybe someone who lives in Laredo and visits this site can chime in and let us know if it's actually on the air or not. The last I had heard about it was that it was now English Christian and they were broadcasting only on the web (www.klitefm.org) There was a Facebook page created and the last few post had said they were having troubles getting the station on the air. They were waiting on an engineer to come work on the station. Then the Facebook page was deleted. Not sure if they switched formats again or just scrapped the whole station and it's still off the air. They still haven't filed a license to cover for the Ranchitos Las Lomas site. They also lied on their license renewal. KBAW hadn't been on the air in Zapata in years.

That stream is down, just tried tuning it in from the website which is up.

If its the same guy I'm thinking of, I think it might be fair to say he has cash flow problems. Never paid my group a dime when we were MXed out with him then turned around and gave up the frequency for some debt owed per the transfer with the FCC. Can't say this is the same guy but how many Tellez names from Laredo have stations. Never good to see someone struggling to keep a station going..

So a few weeks ago (July 12-13th) I went to Nuevo Laredo so I had a chance to tune into 93.3 KLIT. It was now broadcasting Spanish Christian music. On the outskirts of Laredo it sounded fine but on my way into Laredo right past the Bob Bullock Loop the signal broke up and it started to sound crappy. Once I got near the border it was basically all static and gone. The next day as I drove back I tried to pick the station back up again and it was off the air. Drove right past near the transmitter site and it was just all static and off the air. No idea what happen. Haven't been back there since so no idea if its back on or not.

This station is the poster child for someone who knows nothing about RF trying to usurp the laws of physics. :)

Infamous 's experience SHOULD be expected. If you've ever been to Laredo, you know the ground drops off a few hundred feet as you go west into town. Once past the Bullock Loop (New since I was there) the ground drops off down to the river. Since Laredo is at the absolute edge of the service area, that means there's no line of sight from the far east tower into the city itself. The 60 dbu is right at the city limits, but with the lack of elevation for the receivers, there's just no signal.

I suspect a few miles across the border, as the land begins to slope up, their signal is better. However as a Laredo station, THEY'RE SCREWED.

his is what happens when idiots like this guy try to copy results found elsewhere without understanding RF propagation. On level ground it would work fine. But it's NOT level ground.
