KBAY Flips to Country

There is a very good interview with the Alpha CEO, VP of Content, and Market Manager of KBAY at Country Aircheck:

The thing that surprised me was how quickly they jumped on this decision. They explain why they chose this station from their cluster, what their goals are, and why they chose a syndicated morning show.
Actually the article is here: http://www.countryaircheck.com/pdfs/current041122.pdf! I blame the computer for putting the wrong date! :D

In terms of music style, KBAY wasn't "close" to KEZR until the changes that occurred New Years Day.

If company brass wasn't fond of the format closeness, I cannot help but wonder why such a change occurred in the first place.

Does 94.5's signal reach San Ramon, Pleasanton and Livermore proficiently? I've noticed issues with certain Bay Area stations that lack boosters in that region in the past.

Not sure we ever learned of the A25-54 numbers of the prior "Bay FM" format. I suspect you are correct, though.

On that old thread, I mentioned how 94.5's changes coming out of the Christmas music marathon might wind up infringing on 106.5. Interestingly enough, Alpha's leadership seems to concur with that view.

What I found interesting about the C.A. interview is that a move to grab KSJO, perhaps as part of a signal exchange, received at least some internal consideration.

It would be a nice added “friendly” deal between Alpha and EMF to have KBAY to promote the move of country to 94.5 on 95.3 before the format sendoff comes to an end...

He is absolutely correct.

To me, there's nothing about the logo that says anything about the station. It could be for an insurance company.
And the juxtaposition of red and blue immediately made me think of politics...
