KBBQ/KLSZ Fort Smith

Last night at midnight, KBBQ 100.7 FM dropped it's oldies format for a simulcast of KLSZ 102.7 FM. Liners are now running that are saying, "Rock 102 is now Rock 100.7".... I am assuming that a new format is coming to KLSZ....

Last song was "American Pie" by Don McLean.... First song was "To Those About To Rock, We Salute You...."

This leaves KRBK 104.7 FM as the lone oldies outlet in the market. The 60's-70's format had been on that frequency for at least fifteen years that I can remember.

Any speculation as to what will come of 102.7... AC is the only hole in the market (Magic 107.9 being of course NW Arkansas....)

First off Mogul...Why are you up at Midnight when you know you have to work the next day???LOL... Could Jack/Jill be comin' to da fort??? I am guessin automated since one guy is out and one girl is now at Big Country that used to be at Q100. You can do Jack/Jill without announcers...Most are anyway. I have noticed a few "Updated" Oldies stations hitting the airwaves lately...70's, 80's, and 90's Oldies....HMMM...What could it be???

haha.... my girlfriend and I were actually on our way back from Tenkiller and we heard "American Pie" on KBBQ... she said, "Hold on I like this song...." and we listened to it.... I didn't think anything about it until they started doing the liners with both stations included.

After Rusty left they pretty much ran Q100.7 without announcers for the longest time..

There is no sleep for me on a holiday weekend in Sequoyah County... we're too busy firing our rifles into the air.

So that's the noise I've been hearing...Speaking Of Noise...The Word on the Street is that KLSZ will be AC...kind of like Sunny 94.9 in FayettNam...Time will tell if a certain Mr. Garrett knows of what he speaks...What format would you do here in The Fort Mogul???

Well you have two of just about everything in the market... Two sports (on FM no less), two news/talk, three rockers, three countries... AC is about the only thing left to do.... unless you do a Jack-FM...

I understand that it will be something not already in the market from what I have been told by people higher up on the food chain than I...

For some odd reason, Magic 107.9 has a strong hold down here. People have tried AC in the market before, and it just hasn't done it. KMAG was AC... KEZU 104.7 gave it a try for quite a while... I don't know that anyone ever beat them at least since I have been involved in the radio circus...

I ain't buying radio disney but nice try Ear...and I got my invite to the special unveling party....I'm gonna be busy tweaking my format to the 26 to 33 and a third demo that night...DARN!!!!

Now Ray.... I know that being a rocker you probably don't frequent the AM dial that much, but we do have 1230 KFPW which is the Music of Your Deat... I mean "Timeless Classics"....

I have heard four different singers doing, "Mr. Bojangles" in the past week.... Right now they are playing Jerry Jeff Walker's version. Yesterday it was Anne Murray...

How about bringing back "Klass 102"...... Or an all showtunes channel.....

"ALL FRANK...ALL THE TIME" That would sound great on K Low Snore Zone. Monday night at Area 51 is the supposed unveiling of the format...we'll know by then. I am sure I will lose at least 1 hour of sleep between now and then wondering with...Antici...Pation....(Let's do the time warp again!) And I gotta tell you Mogul...Jerry Jeff doing Mr. Bojangles is just pure blaspheme!!!

I looked at the ratings for Ft. Smith and that Oldies station did better than the other one. I don't understand the change. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
