KBBV CA Bakersfield Back On The Air

Pappas Telecasters; KBBV-CA 19 returned to progrmming Wednesday at noon following a couple of days of color bars, KBBV-CA is running the American One Network. KBBV-CA has been off the air for a few months for unknown reasons, KBBV-CA despite its low power has a better signal in the western Antelope Valley than the full power KBAK 29 broadcasting from the same mountain top.

The reason wasn't unknown
It was not known to me, Pappas would not respond to request for information about KBBV-CA's sudden departure from the airwaves in November. Pappas must be in really bad financial shape if they can't afford the electric bill for the transmitter, as the station was programmed from their Fresno studios, their was little to no cost for programming from American One.

I think you're right about Pappas. They just received permission to continue broadcasting Yuma's KSWT-DT at reduced power until 2/17/09, also for financial reasons. Perhaps their partnership with Azteca America had something to do with it, but I've gotten the impression from others that Pappas has always been tight with their money.
