KBCS-FM Seattle Times article

Great news article in the Seattle Times this morning about KBCS, the Bellevue Community College FM station. Seems like they're on the path for growth. We do correct them about their current ratings. www.rrconline.org says they have a weekly cume audience of 39,400 persons and an AQH of 1300 persons, 12+ Mon-Sun, 6am-Mid.

I am glad to see that recently they are appealing to a broader cross-section of people. Everytime I see them at Bumbershoot or Folklife they present themselves as a bastion of mid-50's white guys with ZZ Top beards in flannel shirts and worn out jeans. I think they need an image change, for sure. Here's the article:

Incidentally, of these four non-coms in the Seattle area, which station is the oldest?
KNHC
KBCS
KEXP
KMIH

The winner will get a prize.

..and re the correct answer (KNHC):

What were the 3 call letters they started-out 'with' in Dec 1969?

KNH, the original AM frequency was 1210....

Nope. It's one of the four. Pick the least likely and that's the one.
;)

Oh, whoa. Hold it. Mr. Blue is correct! KRAB in the old Firehouse on Capitol Hill. Thanks Blue.

KRAB
KMIH
KNHC
KEXP
KBCS

In that order, I believe.

I kinda think KUOW beat everybody....

YES: they started on 1210 as KNH (K-Nathan Hale) and then went briefly to KNEC in 1970...
.then licensed as KNHC on January 25th, 1971

Oh Golly gee. Redeux, my apologies.

KUOW
KRAB
KMIH
KNHC
KEXP (KCMU-ASUW)
KBCS

And this leaves out the Tacoma and Everett non-coms.
