KBEJ in HD?

Does anyone know if KBEJ 2 Fredericksburg does a simalcast of HD on the same channel? I didnt think they could do that. But it seems like they might have a repeater in Austin broadcasting in HD? Does anyone have a HD tuner to prove that? Thats just what I'm seeing in my TV.

KBEJ doesn't appear to have a digital channel, so I'm guessing they plan to do a flash cutover to digital on channel 2 whenever analog ends. There wouldn't be any co-channel operation of analog and digital signals. Perhaps you are seeing ionospheric skip from a distant digital channel?

Possibly... I do have a fairly decent size TV antenna, probably bigger than I need one, for being about 30 miles from Austin, but I wanted to also get San antonio, I cant realy get 2 right now though because of that, dont know where it might be comming from.

You can't simulcast HD and analog on the same channel.

KBEJ is too new to have received a second channel for digital. (they asked the FCC to assign channel 63 but I no longer see any record of that request and have to assume they were turned down)

I don't have any record of any UPN station in Austin. That doesn't mean there isn't one. (I would not be surprised if KEYE is carrying UPN on a subchannel of their digital operation. Such a subchannel would likely be converted to analog for carraige on cable.)

KBEJ is licensed to Fredricksburg and serves as the UPN affiliate for both Austin and San Antonio. KBEJ is also carried on Time Warner Cable in Austin.
