I noticed that the week before Christmas they started using the "Music from the 90s and today" slogan, thinking they would actually play some music from the 90s. However, their playlist doesn't seem any different, and they seem pretty straightforward Hot AC. Granted, they may lean a little more Adult Top 40 and play some more rhythmic product since thats appropriate for the market, but this seems like nothing more than an imaging change, because the station is essentially the same. CC really does seem to have a lock on that 'wall of women' they refer to- with KOST, KBIG and KIIS all locking out the competition.
I expect to see more stations, whether they be Hot AC, Classic Hits, Classic Rock, Urban AC, start to emphasize a move towards 90s and 00s music, now that we are fully into the new decade. I seem to remember a similar trend around 2000 when stations that used to emphasize "music from the 70s, 80s and today" transitioned to "music from the 80s, 90s and today".
