KBKS traded from CBS to Clear Channel

Every market is different, but perhaps it's worth mentioning that CC has owned Mainstream CHR KRQQ and Rhythmic CHR KOHT in Tucson, AZ for several years. The two stations are seemingly programmed to not step on each others' toes, and both appear to be successful (looking at 12+ ratings, anyway.)

Perhaps something similar will take place in Seattle.

Someone mentioned Kidd Kraddick. I heard about the guy, so I checked out one of his affiliates online in the wee hours (WKXD, Cookeville, TN) and well, he's BIG in the South (2/3rds of his affiliates are South of the Mason Dixon, his closest affiliate is KUJ-FM in Walla Walla.) He and his bunch have no shortage of the latest Britney and Hollywood blabber, in fact that's 90% of it. And while that's not a problem - all morning shows give some dosage of Hollywood, if only to separate themselves from Morning Edition. It's absolute OVERKILL on Kidd's and other syndicated morning shows.

It's kinda like a radio version of "The View".

But here's something that bugs me about Kidd and all the other syndicated mornings - NO local content, be it in Cookeville or Walla Walla. Mornings in Puget Sound are traditionally filled with local name dropping, jokes and local callers. I don't know how this will fly in Seattle without any of it. Kidd is not exactly Howard Stern or has nearly the name recognition of. It seems like his show is a quick, cheap and easy morning fix for small and medium markets. But I think Seattle is a wee bigger market for the likes of KIdd's show. Seattle is not exactly Walla Walla.

Don't get me wrong, Kidd's got a good thing going where it's good, but I can only handle so much talk about Ms. Spears latest meltdown.

Haha, its funny that these bigger shows are getting attention.
People forget there are more resources gained by this, in the NW.
More so than people give credit for.

I believe that something like this is in the works, and I’ve posted this in a response to freashh on this board as well.
"The Playhouse" currently on KXJM (JAMMiN) Portland will either move up here or simulcast. On KISS to replace Jackie and Bender.
At the same time CC may move them in the PDX to Z100 to match the formats of the two stations. Then T-man (if he renews his contract)
may have a open shot at syndication in Portland again, this time on the Rhythmic JAMMiN 107.5 (KXJM) it would be a better match for him anyway. (than Z100)
This way a touch of Seattle/ Portland can remain on both stations in both markets. (just like the blazers now eh? :D haha)
So as far as mornings go.

Seattle:
KUBE _ T-man
KBKS _ Playhouse
Portland:
KXJM _ T-man
KKRZ _ Playhouse

Dude...that's the problem with syndicated and "brand" radio. Too much glory over the mediocre.....

As long as we still have Ichabod, BJ, Tom McCarthy and Kent & Alan, we'll still have it better off than most other places.......

The Playhouse wouldn't fit 106.1 Kiss FM's CHR/Pop format. However, Johnjay & Rich could possibly fly on Kiss FM.

T-Man has already been tried (and failed) in Portland, and won't likely be returning.

John Jay and Rich make the most sense for KBKS and they are showing good growth on Z-100 in PDX, but more so in Phoenix which ain't bad for some cowboys out of Tuscon ;D Playhouse could replace the T-Man or the other way around it don't matter :-\ With Bonneville rumored to by buyin KMPS, KZOK and JACK you can expect Ich and Rivers to stay in town cause Bonneville has a commitment to local ;D BJ and Fitz have long-term deals and I don't see Fisher lettin K@A go or Sandusky parting with TM. Lots of local talent to go around even if Cc does the syndication thang which probably makes sense and cents given KBKS's bad numbers 8)
