KBMB 103.5 The Bomb to OFFICIALLY flip to TOP40/POP format!!!!

KBMB is in the works of officially going 100% POP within the next few weeks! How the hell do they think this will help them when there is already 2 Pop formats in the market (KDND & KSFM)?

Most of us know Entravision is not the brightest company in the bunch but not a smart move. It MAY work is they blow out all programming staff. Pattie Moreno = garbage... obviously (currently at a 2 share). Plus, all their jocks are the farthest thing from Pop or mainstream.

They are trying to keep it quiet but thanks to all the leaks within the building they didn't do a great job.

Thoughts?

Well, if this happens, most of their people will leave (Tommie Goss, Nikia, Famous-maybe, Sn 1). All the others will stay. KBMB and Entra-lacka-vision is clueless of what they're doing. Turning into a pop station, but they'll be the last station people will listen to because KSFM (despite the drop in ratings) and KDND are the priority stations people tune into for Top-40. If this happens, R.I.P. to 103.5, once a hella of a good station (1997-2004) good years, 2005-2007, decent years, not fully great, since 2008, yikes-what happened???

I hate to admit it, but 2010 is about to become a not-so-good year for Rhythmic radio. Already the folks in Minneapolis-St. Paul just saw KTTB flip to Top 40/CHR, so prepare to see more stations bail out in the coming months.

They want a piece of KDND. Top 40/CHR is strong in big markets right now and is probably influencing Entravision's move. Look at what KLSX...err KAMP is doing to KIIS in LA. Bay Area has 3 or 4 CHR-like stations. In Sacramento, Entercom has 2 cash cows: rock and Top 40, with little or no competition. KSFM won't change their urban lean due to heritage that will keep numbers up.

KBMB gave KSFM a run for their money last decade...it's 2010...times are changing.

KSFM probably won't change. They're more Top-40 than Urban. However, I do want them to go back to playing more hip-hop and R&B, since Sacramento needs a hip-hop station (or urban leaning station). KSFM or KBMB will not catch up to KDND right now, but KSFM gives them the best (sorta) competition. I think 106.5 The Buzz should flip their format to urban contemporary. But, with them playing 90s music, they are affecting KBMB in the ratings (shocking). Or maybe 101.1, but they are successful right now with their format. 2010 will be an interesting year. We'll see.

They will do well if they have good talent! SAC Mornings are ripe for a takeover! Hell, I'm available! :p

They have basically gone Top-40/Pop. They're playing Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and other pop artists they weren't playing before. And I bet later this week, they'll be play Miley Cyrus hit song "Party in the USA." Wow! :D

All they did was go Rhythmic Top 40 from "Urban". I have not heard any Katy Perry, nor have I heard Britney Spears. This is nothing new, and they're just trying to stay competitive with KSFM.

Actually, they played Katy Perry "Hot and Cold" on Saturday night, and Britney Spears "Circus" last night. The kind of artists KSFM plays.

KSFM is a Rhythmic Top40. in usual KBMB Fashion they're STILL playing records that KSFM Dropped ages ago.

both of those records are still played on Rhythmic CHR stations.
