SPOTS FOR DOTS

Guest
Could we be hearing sports talk about soccor in spanish soon?

Soccer games? No, LBI has that (Mexican Soccer League) with ESPN Deportes and the Dynamo on KEYH and KQUE. Don't know how long thei contract is, but it may be terminated if ESPN Deportes shows up in Houston.

A spanish soccer show? I see it hard to fit in with the station.

DFW has an fulltime ESPN Deportes affiliate, as does Austin. It will probably get to Houston in the not-to-distant future, but not on KBME. I think the CC folks are waiting to see if either/both 1560 and 97.5 go belly up before making any changes to the sportstalk format on 790.

Spots for Dots works for 610.

Their revenue declines, 790's climbs.

no truth to any of those idiotic deportes rumors - nice try but give it a rest dots. go make a call on someone.

NIXON,
I actually don't work for 610. I don't have anything against 790. I am not trying to stir it up, just hearing voices in the wind out of the market. There is a lot of 'under performing properties' out there and the advertising environment is unsettled at best. You can bet that in '08, a lot of change will happen on the Houston radio dial, both FM and AM. Sports/talk is going to be one of the more note worthy.

I certainly hope Houston gets more and better stations . We badly need it. Listeners are being underserved in Houston.

LUCKROS,
I agree with you. Bland and redundant seems to be the safe passage of Clear Channel, CBS, COX Cumulus, (they all start with c, wonder why?) and the rest of the radio posse. Bland programming is not meeting the budgets. Non relevant formats will have to change eventually or face distinction because of the alternatives, internet, satelite, ipod, crackberry and a general indifference to what radio is putting out there anymore.
