KBME reception in South Texas

I live near South Padre Island in the Rio Grande Valley, For many years we've been able to receive Houston AM stations KTRH (almost like a local), KILT, KSEV, and a faint KIKK. At one time KPRC could be heard, but not so much anymore. I have never been able to pick up KBME but recently 790 started coming in with a fairly decent signal (about the same as KILT or KSEV). My question is "Has KBME increased their power or changed the direction of their signal within the past 6 months or so?"

As CW mentions, KBME hasn't made any changes unless it's operating on an STA that hasn't hit the FCC database yet.

Receiving it wouldn't be out of the question in your area, but I'd have to think it would be rare. It has about the same signal strength in Padre as it does in San Antonio. During its "glory days" as a CHR, I tried picking it up in San Antonio a few times. It was a very rare catch. It was actually pretty reliable in Austin and Killeen (its signal throws a lobe in that direction), though only a radiogeek would've considered listenable. As soon as you started the car, the alternator noise would overpower it, and it would be completely unlistenable as soon as you pulled out of the driveway or away from the curb.
 
KBME hasn’t upgraded their signal,but I’ve heard an improvement in signal as well. Perhaps XESFT 780AM has reduced its power.

KBME and KPRC were some of the first HD stations in the country. They only broadcasted HD during
the daytime hours. Clear Channel dropped HD on those two after a few years. IIRC, KBME was the first to drop it and then KPRC followed a few months later. Both stations were quickly put on an FM subchannel and the AM HD was never turned on again.

KMIC was also in HD until Mickey Mouse sold it. For a music station, KMIC-HD always sounded like a low bitrate internet stream with a bunch of artificial noises. I may have a recording of it somewhere in my old hard drive.
