KBME TO BE SOLD?

Great reference, adguy! :D

I lift a prayer that if this is indeed true, Great Radio Houston is on the other end of this potential transaction.

Great Radio Houston is the group that up until this last month leased time on KIKK as a Swing/Standards format, headed by Tom Richards and Ronnie Renfrow. Thus the name of "Swingin' 650" that was their moniker. Someone on the boards stated that they had lost the funding to continue the show on KIKK, and therefore we are stuck with the CNN audio throughout the entire day on 650. What a shame, as I (and many I know) enjoyed the selection of music and hearing Ronnie and Tom on the air again. Heck, Mike Shiloh filled in a few times on the program, and adguy he's never sounded better IMO. My comment above was more wishful thinking than anything else. If the guys couldn't pay for the leased time on KIKK any longer, they definitely won't be on the other side of the negotiation table from CC at the price KBME most certainly will go for.

There is too much fallout that has to settle before CC would think about unloading KBME--the ultimate fate of KGOW; does 97.5 stay with ESPN; does Radio Mojo 950 flop, etc. I don't see anything happening to 790 anytime soon.

If the Astros stink next year, and the Rockets flame out (again) it's going to be a pretty lame 2008 for sportstalkers here.

If Charlie Pallilo initially signed a three year contract, it would be coming up for renewal about now. Hmmm.

No, I understand you were not intending to be specific, pardon my wise cracking. I assume this ties in with the Transfer of Control that was sent to the FCC on the 9th of this month, and if so this is moving rather quickly. Let me be the first to say, I certainly hope KBME doesn't become another "Pay for Pray" station. I wonder if this is the opportunity BMP would be looking for to enter the market they are HQ'ed in?

Hey, if anybody were looking for a station it would be loony Dan Frishberg and his BizRadio cronies, but I would doubt his ability to raise the $$$'s CC would most certainly ask for 790. If it is true that they are without a signal at the end of Jan it would make sense that they would be shopping any place they could get aired. If they had the money it would only make sense that they would excercise the buy option they supposedly have with Multicultural Radio who owns 1320. Just a thought.
