At least that's what the Wise County Messenger says. There was a deal to sell the station to Entravision months ago, but apparently that fell apart when owner Dick Witkovski didn't complete the power upgrades. Any news on this? Witkovski was to make an announcement (where? how?) sometime this month on the future of the station, but I haven't seen or heard anything.

I guess KBOC's station licence is dead, a real shame. Strange Entravision or another company didnt kick in any money for the upgrade. I dont see it listed anymore on Radio-Locator. Last year I caught a pretty good local oldies show on KBOC one night driving to Wichita Falls.

I worked at KWCS in 86-87 and we brought a local guy in on Sunday night to do an oldies show. His name was Phil Luker, and he did the show with original edition 45's. Those were the days.

From the FCC website

and KBOC's application to remain silent:

REASONS FOR SUSPENDING OPERATION

NORTH TEXAS RADIO GROUP, L.P. HAS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED OPERATIONS OF KBOC(FM) IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT A CHANGE IN TRANSMITTING LOCATION AND AN UPGRADE IN ITS FACILITIES. A CHANGE IN ITS TRANSMITTER SITE AND AN UPGRADE FROM CLASS A TO CLASS C0 ARE AUTHORIZED IN AN OUTSTANDING CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FOR MODIFICATION OF FACILITIES, FILE NO. BPH-20040714ABU. IN ORDER TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW AND UPGRADED FACILITIES, IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE THE CURRENT FACILITIES OFF THE AIR TEMPORARILY. THE LICENSEE ANTICIPATES RETURNING KBOC(FM) TO OPERATION ONCE UPGRADED FACILITIES ARE COMPLETED.
