KBOP/20 is on the air!

Actually it isn't that exciting. Four subchannels:
  • 20-1 and 20-3 are in Spanish; 20-2 and 20-4 are in English
  • 20-2 was broadcasting an infomercial when I tuned in
  • 20-4 is religious (the Hope Channel)

Maybe it'll change, but it looks like DFW's spam and Christian count both increased today.

Upon closer inspection, 20-3 is the Spanish version of the Hope Channel. And now 20-1 is in English - and it's an infomercial.

So spam +2; Christian +2.

There sure is a lot popping in the world of DTV over the next few days with the big changes involving KTVT, KTXA and KPFW. I've got to think that tower crews are in town and it was probably an opportune time to fire up KBOP. Can KPHK/28 and KNAV/22 be far behind I wonder?

It's E=MC(Squared)= More Profit to get to that full time 1000 kW status! ::) ::)

20-1 quickly went to color bars, but 20-2 through 20-4 remain the same. So it's still Christian +2, but spam is only +1 now.

Maybe they're planning something else for 20-1. It's surprising they don't have programming for their -1 channel, but KVFW/38 was in that boat for some time.

The signal meter shows a quite weak signal for KBOP, but it hasn't been breaking up for me. So it must be strong enough out here, if only barely. (Their antenna is almost 100 meters lower than K31GL's.)

Would you mind telling me your general whereabouts? I'm trying to get a feel for the range of KBOP.

And hello everyone, I'm new here.

Zip code 75043 in South Garland (almost to Sunnyvale & Mesquite). And here's a map showing KBOP's predicted coverage area that you might find useful.

Following in K25FW's footsteps, the FCC has licensed the new KBOP.

The FCC's query for KBOP also shows a CP on channel 6, but that's a mistake. It expired some weeks ago and they deleted it at the time, but it got "undeleted" with the call sign swap.

Hi folks. I thought I'd jump in and give a shout about 20.4 plans. All things going well you should see KBOP 20.4 branded as Good News TV on Sunday afternoon/evening. You'll know it happened if you see the bug. There's a bit more work to do like re-aiming a satellite dish that moved slightly in the gale last week. Once its ready we'll throw the big switch.

When Good News TV goes live the programming will change a good deal but will still be religious/health/lifestyle in nature and generally line up with Good News TV Phoenix 44.3 but as it becomes available will have local Dallas/Fort Worth relevant content in certain slots. I think the new lineup will be much more attractive for us metroplex viewers.

No doubt there will be a few hiccups in this switchover - it's all new equipment so inevitably something will be balky or we'll have the schedule programmed wrong and end up with something stupid happening, but laugh along with us and at us and keep watching!

There are similar intentions for 20.3 in Spanish but that will take a bit longer (no date known yet.)

I just noticed the switchover happened. (I don't pay much attention to religious channels, so it may have happened some time ago.) 20.4 is presently showing the 3ABN network.

20.3 was showing something in English earlier today but is presently back to the Esperanza network.

Good News TV occupies two subchannels of channel 44 in Phoenix. Channel 44.2, branded Mas TV, alternates between 3ABN Latino and Esperanza TV. This is what you're probably seeing on 20.3 in DFW. Channel 44.3, branded Good News TV, alternates between Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN), The Hope Channel, and Loma Linda Broadcasting Network (LLBN). It is what you're seeing on 20.4 in DFW. Most of the programs originate from the 3ABN headquarters in West Frankfort, Illinois, but there should be a little local programming as well. The programming is from the point of view of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Wow. You guys are good. 20.3 is still purely Esperanza but I'm expecting that will change up a bit later.

Did anyone notice the 44.3 promo I let slip through on 20.4 Wednesday? We were testing a feed from Phoenix for some programming we can't offer locally yet and I missed a cue. It was a nice spot but hey, this is DFW!
