I have not heard about KBRA in years. A broadcast engineer built the station from scratch in what had been a local dress shop. He put a room in the back to live out of. The station was mainly automated and barely brought in the cash to keep going. In fact the fellow did engineering for a station I worked for, which is how I gained the info.
It seems he had real problems with people using the tower as target practice.
Somewhere in the 1990s He had moved to Mississippi to take care of an aging parent, I think, that needed constant care. It seems he managed to find someone lease the station for actual expenses. It seems he had someone local that would watch the station for him when he was away on engineering jobs.
I never heard what happened to the station as of about 2 decades ago. It seems Freer might be in better shape these days with the oil industry in that region.
I'm guessing the station might be leased or perhaps suffering from another shooter that can hit their target.
Having known the owner, I can tell you he's an above board guy that follows the rules. And he knows his stuff.
