KBRD 680 Now Streaming Live!

KBRD, that lovable (and WAAAYYY COOLER) alternative to that lame MOYL stuff running on KIXI these days is now streaming 24/7 for your listening and dancing pleasure...

http://66.224.103.98:680/listen.pls (56k MP3)

KBRD, in case ya didn't know runs a HUGE selection of classic swing, Dixieland jazz, country and B/EZ from the '20s to the '60s. Tons of classic cuts from Bessie Smith, Al Jolson and Rudy Vallee to The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby and Glenn Miller to Patsy Cline, Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles and everything in between. So if you're not in Olympia and you REALLY wanna kick it old school, give KBRD a button on your virtual radio.....

Enjoy! (Skip & BJ would be PROUD!)

Skip & BJ would be proud. One of the last stations programmed with flair! Now add some local personality and once we all have WiFi radios in the dash the programmers will have a long last beaten the C.C. bean counters.

Decent quality stream too! Smart, they don't waste bandwidth on stereo. Just good quality mono.

Agreed, nice sounding stream for KBRD. I think for us locally we're lucky as far as stations that stream and quality. Take a listen to KLOG 1490 or KMAS 1030 down south (to bad KMAS is now nearly all satellite), these are just a couple of the best I've heard, there are probably more.

As far as the big boys CBS was worth the wait and now has great sounding streams...CBS FM, K-Earth 101, KFRC and locals too...Jack, KZOK etc.

If you are going to stream at this point you might as well pay for the bandwidth to make it sound good, otherwise don't even bother.

All so true! So many long forgotten gems just waiting to be rediscovered....

What has always impressed me about KBRD is musically, they took the nostalgia format and made it into the radio art it was meant to be. But I agree, some good classic personalities that know this music will make it unstoppable, 250 watt daytimer or not. But KBRD is running on a shoestring, non-commercial budget and for that, they can EASILY be forgiven for the automation and voice tracks (a lot more than these multi-billion dollar corporations.) At least KBRD plays deeper tracks (even from 78s!), lost swing hits and classic B/EZ album cuts you will NOT hear on KIXI (shamefully.)

KBRD is like the KEXP of nostalgia formats. Locally, it's radio audience is small, but VERY hardcore. Now that it's out on the web, expect it to gain more IMPRESSIVE acclaim in everything from alternative weeklies to major music publications because KBRD is so different from the rest. And potentially THOUSANDS of new listeners. And the audience isn't dying off. As long as there are people who want a high-class, truly nostalgic alternative to KIXI, KBRD will ALWAYS have an audience. The web feed brings 680 kHz into modern world and trust me, there can be no better or more beautiful way in celebrating the INCREDIBLE gift that Skip and BJ have brought to the Puget Sound airwaves than to let the rest of the world enjoy the music with us.

Here's to you hard working folks at KBRD....and to Skip and BJ...wherever you are....

For a 56k mono stream it sounds great I was tuned in via iTunes and enjoyed it quite a bit.... Excellent addition to my iTunes presets ;)

KX... which feed is 56k mono?

RR

KBRD from what was said above..... We're 128k at KXRX.net and we only bumped it up from 64k because a couple affiliates we simulcast on weekends are 128k so we can relay them properly.
