KBRD TO KMTT

Hey Guys:

I was wondering if you guys can help me out with this question:

Was KBRD easy listening or Soft AC when it changed to KMTT in April of 1991?

Thanks

T.J.

The first song we played, the morning KBRD [Beautiful Music] switched to KMTT -- Roxanne by the Police. The phones lit up with complaints from old-timers who spit up their oatmeal when they realized the elevator music was gone.

I distinctly remember listening to the flip. The first KMTT song was Jackson Browne's "Rock Me On The Water" and it was in the afternoon, not the morning.

You know, I have asked this question to others before about the first song on KMTT and Jackson Browne's "Rock Me On The Water" came up twice before, Other songs, from "Start Me Up" Rolling Stones to "Standing On Higher Ground" Alan Parsons Project, even "Welcome To The Machine" Pink Floyd also came up with people asked. But it seems now we have a clear answer....

So I guess that settles it......

If it really matters, I know I have the flip on tape somewhere. Can pull it. I remember the END was REM...but was more intrigued with Mountain "format" because they did the sting stunt right before they launched. Placed last minute buy on a Friday with competing stations around town ... those stations salivated and loaded up the logs for the spots promoting "the Mountain" and it's awesome soundtrack. Stations assumed it was movie and since last minute Friday no one did due diligence. Spots slipped off the air over the weekend as people "wised up" to what was going on.
