KBRT's Big Day

Today on The Bottom Line from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on KBRT AM 740, owner Don Crawford and Crawford Broadcasting's Director of Engineering Cris Alexander will be on the air to talk about the move from Santa Catalina Island to the Oak Flat site in the mountains near Corona. I believe they will also be officially "throwing the switch" to the new, more powerful site.

This day has been many years in the making and should be interesting for anyone interested in broadcasting.

Can't think of any other group operator who would have done this in today's radio environment. Not only the tremendous amount of money invested, but the years this move has taken. A tip of the fez to Crawford's perseverance!

I had read in the CGC News-Letter that the switch
was going to be today at noon. So here in a shielded
building in Santa Monica, I listened.
My friend near UCLA like myself noticed the signal much
weaker after the switch.
She's quite Patriotic-and-thought they shouldn't
have switched during the National Anthem.
I suppose when I get home in Sherman Oaks, I will
hardly hear this 740.
None of the licensed Orange County AM's
have good signals. So now, we have 2 50K OC stations
with hardly listenable signals.
