July 2006 is when the domain was registered. Hardly "forever" ago.
KBMT was one of the last (if not the last) TV station in the triangle to have a website.

IIRC, fellow ABC station KTRK was the last in Houston with a website (if you count the Fox 26/UPN 20 splash page--if not then KRIV is the last).
