With KBWB losing The WB, there is uncertainty on what programming will fill its lineup in fall.
From what I see on the lists is that San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose DMA is the 8th largest Hispanic TV market. There is already a Univision, Telemundo and Telefutura in that market. Might another Spanish station be viable?
As for MyNetworkTV, KRON might not being interested. Mainly because they have a lineup with Dr.Phil(8pm), News (9pm) and SATC(10-10:30pm), which is probably doing decent for them.
That brings me to Sacramento. Hearst has both Oprah and Dr.Phil rights. The option they have for 58 is primetime Oprah and Dr.Phil. Unlike Sinclair, Granite and Tribune stations, the Hearst WB(Sacramento) and UPN(Kansas City) station have some strong programming from their dominant duopoly partner. Thus, they would be in no need of an unproven fledgling network from Fox. Hearst doesn't have any affiliations with Fox that I know of.
If that is the case, might MyNetworkTV not have any clearance in Sacramento? I suppose such is the case in markets where CBS owns the soon to be indepedent, CBS might not want to affiliate with MyNetworkTV, and there is no other independent around to pick it up or wants to pick it up. Like Miami.
Back to San Francisco-San Jose, Cox is already the Fox affiliate, and could be the duopoly partner for Fox and MyNetworkTV.
However, Fox needs MyNetworkTV clearance in Detroit as well, where Granite may turn out with a better chance for affiliating 2 market stations. Granite would still need 2 daytime hours, and would still have weaker stations than a year ago. Lastly, there is the option of selling one or both stations to Fox. Any thoughts?
Oh yeah, there is also KFTY 50 (Ind.)/ Clear Channel. Might they be another optional outlet for MyNetworkTV?
