Idaho KBXL 94.1 Caldwell Idaho being sold to the University of Northwestern, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota

KBXL 94.1 Caldwell ID is a full power religious but commercial station.
University of Northwestern (UNW) is a Christian university located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
KBXL license will be converted to non-commercial.
Sale price is $1,500,000.

Wow! Is that UNW's first purchase in a Western market?
I assume they will just change monikers to "Faith 94.1" given the company-wide branding. I can't see them going to Christian Contemporary in a market where KTSY and K-LOVE battle it out.

Boise already has several Christian stations...

99.5 KLXI Fruitland ... K-Love, non-commercial Christian AC
98.7 KARO Nyssa ... Air 1, non-commercial Worship Music
89.5 KTSY Caldwell ... Locally programmed, non-commercial Christian AC
89.1 KAWS Marsing ... CSN International, non-commercial mostly talk and teaching with some Christian AC
1060 KBGN Caldwell ... locally programmed Christian talk and teaching, a commercial brokered-time station
890 KYWN Meridian ... Spanish-language, mix of talk and teaching shows and Christian music

and now 94.1 KBXL Caldwell with programming from University of Northwest-St. Paul. It's Christian talk and teaching, with some UNW shows and some national shows like Focus on The Family, Rick Warren and David Jeremiah. UNW also has The Life Network, playing Christian Contemporary music. But KBXL is part of The Faith Network, with teaching shows around the clock.

Three more Boise religious stations I missed...

1490 KCID ... Caldwell ... Spanish-language Catholic
1140 KGEM + 102.3 translator ... Boise ... Catholic programming, mostly from EWTN
790 KSPD ... Boise ... Christian talk and teaching

So that's 10 stations in the Boise market with religious formats, 5 AM, 5 FM.

KBXL was already a Christian station. Has been since the 1990s.
Their former sister station was 790 KSPD.
KBXL was put on the air by KBGN. Played beautiful music.
Sold to KSPD and continued that programming until the switch to Christian centered programming.
No change in the numbers.
