KC101 Wikipedia Page

I don't know who did it, but whoever wrote all the new info on WKCI-FM's wikipedia page did a PHENOMENAL job! Even before I started working there, I was a huge KC101 fan and am excited someone took the time to write a such in-depth history of the station. I'm sure what is written isn't 100% accurate, but for the most part, it's RIGHT ON! ;D

Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WKCI-FM

I was really impressed on how informative that page was. I am a little confused though, as I was up at the KC101 transmitter a handful of years ago and I remember it being on Lin's property - which I assumed was the tower also for WTNH. The article seems to imply that KC101 is no longer on the WTNH tower.

It was also sad to read about how mediocre the station had become in recent times with voice tracking and syndie programming. Of course I grew up with KC101, remembering the switch from beautiful music to the infamous KC101 of yesteryear. Oh well, I guess it's just a natural progression of things.

KC-101 constructed its own tower. I testified at Hamden ZBA and Zoning hearings in support of this construction, specifically on the Radiofrequency Radiation aspect. Both boards approved the Clear Channel application. Faith Zila was GM at the time (1999).

Echoing a sentiment from Bill above, it's amazing when you scroll down the page and look at the many lineups during different periods of WKCI from the 1980's to present. From the 1980's through as late as 2007, all local personalities. The current lineup almost entirely consists of jocks with either a "syndicated" or "voicetracked" designation.

The irony is that WKCI's most popular music jock, Glenn Beck, is making a killing with a syndicated talk show of his own, for Clear Channel. And former "KC" morning show co-host Pat Gray has joined him for the ride.

I'm Jon Howe. While in CT I worked at WSNG, WTIC-FM, WKCI, WWYZ...then moved to FL in 1986 where I worked mornings at WNFI-Daytona, WOVV-West Palm Beach, WRMF, Sunny 104.3, then 8 years hosting a morning news show on WJNO-AM 1290. Now I live in Lake Worth and work as a voiceover talent for a company called On Hold Technologies in Jupiter, FL. Oh...and I turn 50 in 2013 YIKES!!!
