KCAL on Verizon SD 9

Has anyone noticed the letterboxing being done on KCAL 9 via Verizon FiOS's SD channel 9?

It's very inconsistent in that they letterbox 4x3 material (Inside Edition & People's Court) for that picture in a black frame look while center-cutting widescreen programming like KCAL news. KCAL news starts letterboxed, showing it is 16x9, then zooms in. WTF? :p

Apparently I'm the only one who has called 818-655-2000 according to the woman who knew NOTHING about letterboxing/center-cut (she said she was not an engineer) but who KNEW it was Verizon's problem. And she said it wasn't a problem b/c I was the only one who called. ::)
