KCBQ has "openings"

Early this morning on kCBQ, Bruce Johnson announced KCBQ has ½ hour and 1 hour openings forprospective mortgage hawkers or whatever your fancy is. They will train and offer pointers :D

Yes, because their association with a D-rate TV station and history for developing such hot talents as Hugh Hewitt puts them in a great position to offer "pointers" to new hosts.

The K-C-B-Quacks.....Sad ending for a station once known and respected nationwide. I think they should take tired old AM stations out to pasture and shoot them: I'm not sure it serves any purpose to keep KCBQ on the air other than allowing some suckers to fork over pay-to-play money for programs no one listens to.

This is the latest in the dumbing down of our culture. You are a "hater" if you don't like something. What a simplistic concept, don't water down the meaning of hate by using it for anyone that disagrees with you. KCBQ, reminds me of a glue-horse.It's a shame. KCBQ was a monster radio station, To see it reduced to a bunch of 3rd string talk and snake oil, and relocated to a skyscraper in La Jolla. Back on Mission Gorge road in the late 60's they called their 12 acres, Radio Park, with jocks like Robert L Collins, Happy Hare, Lee Baby Simms, KO Bayley, Bobby Ocean, & Chuck Browning. It was the home of some of the industry's great personalities and programmers. The Last Contest, The Heavy 1170, KCBQ Funderground, Fun Lovin' KCBQ, and the Super Q. The legendary 7th and Ash studios, back in the day of 40 shares, and jocks that everyone listened to.Yeah, the old girl's best days were long gone, but with the puritans at Salem in charge, it's a hard pill to swallow.

The term "hater" is hardly "the latest". That term has been around since the 80's.The phrase "look at the bright side" has been around even longer. At least they are offering live local programming and employing raido people. :D

And which position do you occupy at Salem-San Diego? The dead should be buried that's the least we can do. I'm happy that people are employed, but its bad radio, with virtually no ratings, and snake oil salesmen.Aren't you the same person who's complaining about a spot for San Diego Radio Broadcasters?. What happened to the sunny side there?

Thank goodness for them raido people - they are the heart and soul of the raido industry.

A few days ago I was listening to a KCBQ air check, the night newsman downtown was turning things over to Jack Vincent at the Santee transmitter. A night newsman. Local. Deregulation has been as great for broadcasting as it was for banking, for airlines, and for the electricity market. Regulation was designed to protect the public interest and the country has been laboring under the false belief that the marketplace, left to itself, will do a better job of serving the public interest, but that is manifestly untrue. KCBQ, one more case in point.
