Kcbs 740am

I get KCBS real often here in WA - about 700 mi from SF. CBX sometimes tries to cause problems as well.

They must have the same pos grammer checker that Word 2010 has.

KCBS is weak in Boise. CBX doesn't get here very often. One of the few Canadians that actually use their night directional.
Actually hear KVOX Fargo more often than CBX.

FWIW in my travels through the years...

KCBS like a local at night in So-Cal. Usually pretty good in Portland, Seattle and even Vancouver. I've also heard it in Phoenix, mixing with the local 740. I've never personally heard it east of the Rockies. Last night when I was in North Platte, Nebraska, there was no trace of it whatsoever.

Ironically, of the main California AM'ers, KCBS has the weakest signal here at my QTH in W. WA. KNBR and KGO are the loudest, with KFI next in strength. KCBS is usually pretty weak. KNX used to be fairly regular with good signals but CFAX has been plastering it the past few months.

KNX got jammed in Dallas when KRLD started HD. KNBR is an easy catch in Dallas in the wee hours of the morning. KFI, for some reason, isn't doing well in Texas. I thought it was their tower issue, but maybe it is the HD power vampire.

CFAX must've changed pattern - their signal is very hot at nighttime.

More than once, I've heard KCBS with a fair listenable signal on the Grand Junction, Colorado Global Tuners receiver.

It was a surprise because they hardly send much signal that way.

Nice Catch on that one

I don't think I will ever get used to this new format for the forum.

The old one was good. I miss it.

I've heard KVOX a couple times here in WA. 940W and sometimes in dead, dead winter with best possible E-W conditions, it's a flamethrower. I've also heard CFZM a couple times in and out.

Kilokat-

I know Sept. 15th, 2012 quite well. It was a Saturday morning. It also happens to be the same day I caught KNBR 680 San Francisco from Coldwater, MI! My KNBR reception was about 15 minutes later than your KCBS. Must have been amazing propagation that day.

Congrats on catching KNBR. They are nearly impossible for me to hear now since WSCR has turned IBLOCK back on. Good thing you caught KNBR when you did! Yes, very nice propagation that Saturday morning.

I think KRMG would kill any chance of KCBS. Mexicans, as well...

You might have been hearing KVOR in Colorado Springs.

We used to get KCBS fairly well here in the Portland area before KXL (750) went to 20 kW at night. I know you can receive KCBS all the way up the the Vancouver, BC area at night. I haven't heard the Edmonton station for a number of years.
