KCBS-AM740

No luck getting KCBS as of yet but I was tuning around to other frequencies and I got KFI again!

It was in for a couple minutes and then faded with the usual Cuban taking over.

Getting KFI is a great accomplishment in Florida with the Cuban station on 640.

I live here in the Bay Area, and I pick up KCBS just fine. ;D

Hey Gar, if you think you might have KCBS in the background, one clue would be that they have traffic reports EVERY 10 minutes on the 8's, and financial news at :25 and :55 every hour. Of course that assumes you can hear what's being said, but if you hear a traffic report at x:x8, you might be on to something.

I've been listening for their traffic and weather sounders which I'm familiar with from having recently been out there but so far, nothing.

There are other stations in the background of WYGM and KTRH (not CFZM which only pops in once in a while) but they never get loud enough to ID except for two times where I heard the ID from KRMG.

I'm just hoping one night at the right time, the signal will show up if only for a couple minutes like KFI has.

I stopped listening for them a while ago.

WYGM and KTRH are too strong and even if KCBS is somewhere way in the background, it's never strong enough to ID.

How does having the HD off make for a better signal?

As posted in another thread, when I was in Key West last week, 740 at night sounded almost like something akin to a graveyard channel.

I bet KCBS was probably in the mix but not strong enough to ID.

I wouldn't rule anything out, but Spanish was on top more often than not. The English I heard seemed to be WYGM and KRTH. I think a safer assumption would be that CFZM may also have been in the mix, but I couldn't say that with any degree of certainty. And if we're talking about California, I didn't catch any traces of KNX, KNBR, or KFI. The latter would've been easily blown out by R. Progresso.

KCBS comes in like a local in Fresno/Clovis CA, Day and Night.
