KCCI Des Moines News Promotes Three Journalists

Weekend morning anchor Scott Carpenter will move to weekdays as an additional anchor on KCCI 8 This Morning, covering news and traffic. Carpenter joined KCCI in December 2020.

Reporter Nicole Tam will anchor weekend mornings and become KCCI’s first anchor of Asian American heritage. She joined the station in March 2022 from her home state of Hawaii.

Reporter Amanda Rooker will assume the role of chief political reporter. Rooker joined KCCI in July 2021, and she quickly became a leader in political coverage. She reported from the legislature, researched fact checks on political ads and co-moderated a debate between Iowa attorney general candidates.
