KCCT-AM Corpus Christi, Classic Country Weekends

I was able to check out KCCT-AM's new classic country weekends format yesterday. Sounded pretty good. Programmed well and the voiceguy is the same guy who does 97.1 Houston and 680 AM San Antonio. Nice presentation.

If I had my druthers this would be the fulltime format on the station. A 3rd tier conservative AM talk station really wasn't needed by the market. While there are 3 FM country stations, even 97.5 doesn't seem to play much classic country anymore.

I agree with you Scholarm...

However I'm wondering if there is any staying power with their playlist. I hear the same 20-30 songs every time I tune in. If they're not broad, they're doomed, IMHO.

I also don't understand their "Conservative radio" thing. They think "True Conservative Radio" is talk duiring the week and Classic Country and NASCAR on the weekend? Gotta tell you, That looks like "Conservative" programming from a true stereotypical liberal.

Without becoming political, I'd suggest that perhaps most conservatives are not Classic Country music loving Nascar following Rednecks.

Just a thought. They have two pretty good formats going over there. They ought to pick one and go with it.
