KCET to break from PBS

Many PBS stations are having pledge drives right now, just in time for the holidays.

That being said, do KCET's pledge programming mention anything about PBS? Kind of funny to give money to your local station carrying PBS, knowing that PBS won't be there anymore.

I'll have to open my eyes & ears to see what kind of bill of goods KCET is trying to sell during this drive. I'm pretty sure the pitch was locally based since it had KCET logos in the backdrop but I've become so numb to the pledge process over the years that I instinctively clicked away.

Well we need to look at the results of other stations that have abandoned PBS affiliation like KCSM to see how they are doing.

Last night's pledge drive for KCET was the generic PBS fare that any station could use (with the generfic pitch about how PBS shapes young minds through educational programs like Seaseme Street etc. yadda yadda) which begs the question again, who does KCET think they are fooling? Are they obligated to shill for PBS till the end of year even though they are jumping ship? Any new members KCET gains during this drive are going to feel cheated and sold on promises that won't exist in the new year. It leaves a bad taste for both KCET and PBS.

The fallout KCET could get from this might be a real mess.
