KCGC 94.5 Coarsegold

Application for license to cover has been filed. Has anyone heard this one in testing mode? Wondering how good the signal will be in Fresno (and surrounding areas). Anyone have a clue to what kind of programming they plan to air??

The Company that owns the CP is Spanish Peaks Broadcasting.
So that means it's more likely to be some some kind of Spanish Language Format.
I wonder how it will sound being so close to KOKO 94.3, especially in Madera and West Fresno.

It's ON! Test mode at the moment. 80's, 90's & a little country. Well I hope it's a test mode. Coarsegold "north"report. I'd be interested to hear a central Fresno to south Fresno report. I'm sure there would be co-channel from Hanford involved.

I just checked all my radios and I don't pick it up in Clovis, just a weak KGEN from Tulare, maybe they are not at their full power.

Yea, only a test. Just music and an ID (mentioning a "test") near the top of the hour. Not on today... But I fear, it will return. I also fear it will NOT survive the economy. But it was a nice "grab" for a buck.

Thursday morning, Nov. 10, testing. Good signal in Sunnyside area.

So what's the format to be? PLEASE, PLEASE..., not ANOTHER Nashville crap!!

I'd been wondering why the calls are kCGC... CG-CourseGold but the last ---C ?
CourseGoldCountry? Please say it aint so....

I sure hope it's not another Country station, maybe its CoarseGold Classics.

When 94.5 comes on the air, it'll probably be generically known as "Mix," "Froggy" or "El Requerdo Rancho Grande Corazon" or something silly like that. Call letters aren't very significant anymore.

If I ran that zoo, it would be deep AOR similar to the old K-105 out of Los Banos, with a touch of the old Z-Rock for late-night audio spice. "CGC" would be an acronym for "Classic Great Cuts." I would suspect there are a lot of 25-54 males up in Coarsegold who would set a preset to 94.5 FM.

I have never heard their test signal ,but on paper with 480 watts at 4383 ft in elevation between Oakhurst and Mariposa on Highway 49, I think it will have a good signal from Merced to South of Fresno, KDJK 103.9 only has 71 watts and KKBZ 105.1 at Meadow Lakes has 700 watts and does quite well, so it has potential, not just for Coarsegold.

 Oh, it sounds like it's on the same site as 96.3 KUBB country. That signal should go pretty far. My prediction, it will go as far north as Turlock out to Los Banos and down south to Fresno, that is based on a non-directional signal pattern.

I understand there are two surrounding frequencies (like usual). 94.3 and 94.7, one of which is out of Madera. Mmmm.....This I gotta see....or at least hear it. Ha ha.;D

Actually it's about 20 miles S/E of KUBB, but the elevation is about the same, both at 4350 ft above sea level.

I don't think 94.7 will be an issue, it's very weak and the weekend repeater has been off for a while, but KOKO could be an issue in West Fresno west of 99, and Kerman, and maybe Madera.

I went onto radio locator and the transmitter height of their stick is only 68 feet above the ground for 94.5, vs. 200 feet for 96.3 KUBB. So that should make a difference there too.

I was listening to 94.7 going down the 180 yesterday morning and there was nothing there, just a hisss, similar to the sound on 103.9 KDJK thanks to KRZR HD. So B95 has HD also I take it?

The height of the actual tower has no meaning, It's the overall elevation of the tower.

Yes KBOS has HD, most stations are now in HD, especially big companies like CC.

KCGC 94.5 is testing their signal again, It's sounds good in Clovis with no interference from Co-channel KGEN or adjacent channel KOKO, so far I heard them playing a mix of Country and Rock, I heard The Frey, and Bruce Hornsby. the signal is about 90 percent, but they are not in stereo.

I tuned in ... and thought maybe the signal is weaker than it was a month ago when they were testing.. but had no measure for comparison.. still a pretty decent signal here in Sunnyside-
then I used longly-rice to look at mapped signal contours of both the currently effective license, and the new CP for a different transmitter location.
Here's my speculation: Last months test was for the current issued license, todays test was from the new CP location.
The original license, last months test, is generally stronger in Fresno but is totally cut off from reaching Madera and Merced by terrain. The difference between the two sites, as far as the 99 and I5 corridors is concerned is like night and day. Non-existant vs. Avenal to Patterson coverage on I5.
So, if I'm right, probably no one in Madera or Merced could hear last months test, but they quite easily could've heard todays test.
So... did anyone else hear todays test?
