KCHC 90.9

Today I picked up this station driving near Cal State Long Beach. They were running an oldies show called "The Top 40 Hit Clock" playing songs from 1967 in the morning and then 1971 in the afternoon. The signal was very strong in East Long Beach and Seal Beach. It started to fade north of Katella on the 605. I'm guessing it's a pirate station. A google search reveals nothing. So does anyone know anything about this station?

Move it to the DX & Reception Forum
Why? We do not know if, perhaps, it is a local pirate. Since there is no KCHC, the market where it was heard is a good start, as this does not sound like DX.

No such station, of course. And in CA there appears to be no station on that frequency with a similar format or one that might have special Sunday programming of that nature. Out of state skip of any kind would not have a "local like" coverage as you drove around.

He get more views there & people prob give him a answer
If it is a local pirate, which every indication says it is, the local LA folks will be the only ones who can help identify it. Someone in another market or state will have no idea.

Don't know about the station, but the Top 40 Hit Clock was an old syndicated show done by Bill Drake:

The show is no longer available, so the station is likely airing the show without permission

It seems kind of unusual to hear a pirate on a non-comm frequency. Usually 100.7 or 104.7 are popular pirate freqs in L.A.

Might of seen this thread & thought going to get in trouble, so he took it off air
Or, simply, they are a weekend or "whenever I want to" pirate.

I listen to an internet station in England, all-volunteer, that has a program host ("presenter," as the Brits call them) who pumps the station's stream into a flea-powered transmitter somewhere between 1400-1500 KHz to allow neighbors to enjoy the music without a computer or other streaming device. Several of the presenters are longtime radio amateurs and all have worked in commercial or community radio, so there's a bit of technical knowledge afoot there, but I have no idea if such a use is legal on the medium wave band in the UK.

Is this somebody's personal FM Transmitter and it's a person's personal playlist from their phone, tablet or dashboard app that's intended to be transmitted on the person's car speakers but ended up going beyond the confines of their car.

So disappointing if true. Pirate station is much more fun.

I found another station at that end of the dial playing oldies. This one looks legit. They identify as KLIE-LP Fountain Valley-Garden Grove, Radio Suerte. Their website states they are a bilingual station but so far all I've heard is 60s and 70s English language hits.
