KCKN

What made KCKN go away? Any insiders know the reason? Was there a market research done to determine few are listening to it, and that Spanish would be better? I've been curious about this decision for a while. They seemed to have a loyal following, still today.

KCKN was sold and flipped formats. Ultimately, it probably came down to someone offering money and the declining value of AM signals. Truth is, 1020 has been neglected for a long time. It's been silent a time or two in the last 10 years, and the KBCQ owners sold it more than 10 years ago and had LMA'ed it back a few times.

It’s too bad, that over the years, 1020-KCKN wasn’t developed into a full-service
news-talk station for SE New Mexico…considering it’s 50kw signal…it could have been
the 770-KKOB equivalent for that area of New Mexico.
