KCLE - 1140

When looking around today for the new 1110 AM, KJSA, I happend to hit on KCLE 1140 and they must have boosted power. They are coming in strong from HEB all the way across to the top of Eagle Mountain Lake. I have never received them that well anywhere north of downtown Fort Worth. A pretty respectible signal!

Jay ;)

OK, I just read where "jd" mentions that KCLE got a 5,000 watt increase for it's daytime signal. Boy does that help get them into all of TarrantCounty with out any problems. So thru all of the 1120 - 1110 changes, 1140 gets a helping hand too! NOT BAD!!

Jay :)

Not bad at all, considering that the little station in Cleburne spent about 50 years as a 250-watt daytimer.

Don't discount the "old" 250 watt signal. I recall hearing it in downtown Dallas clear as a bell many a day. Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Marti would not have anything but optimum operation and maximum output out of that lil' coffee pot.

I have no idea what is going on with them now. Does Gary Moss still own KCLE? Does he still have his network of stations? (I know he sold 92.1) I'd like to know.

Long live small town AM's!-still today my favorite radio.

I didn't have any trouble getting KCLE 1120 and KJSA 1140 at their old facilities in west Ft. Worth either. I'm not sure if M&M still owns KCLE or not. I'm thinking they do, but I wouldn't swear to it. I remember hearing they got several stations from First Broadcasting in exchange for getting their consent to modify some of their licenses so First could upgrade a few signals.

I'm listening to KCLE right now here at work (FW Stockyards area) and it's loud and clear. I enjoyed classic country on 1190, but it's even better on 1140. They're playing all kinds of songs I haven't heard in ages and many I've never heard, which is fine by me. 1190's playlist was pretty limited by comparison.

I just have to wait for Trade Fair to end at 11:00 am before the music starts. ;D

I can catch KCLE loud and clear here in East Texas in the early mornings, before KWKH switches to their daytime pattern.
